Bangalore:The Lokayukta police on Friday conducted simultaneous raids on four government officials for assets disproportionate to their known sources of income in Bellary, Koppal, Mysore and Shimoga districts and seized illegal assets worth Rs 4.6 crore.
T Mallesh, a junior engineer of Gescom at Khanahosahalli, Kudligi taluk in Bellary district; B V Srinivas, divisional controller of KSRTC at Chikodi in Belgaum district; Eshappa, co-ordinator of adult education at Kushtagi taluk in Koppal; M Shivakumar, assistant engineer of PWD in Shimoga.
Eshappa possessed Rs 67 lakh worth of immovable assets, including a house (Rs 60 lakh) and five sites (worth six lakh). The Lokayukta officials seized movable assets worth Rs 1.68 crore, including three cars—a Mercedes-Benz (Rs 64 lakh), a Volkswagen (Rs 9 lakh) and a Chevrolet (Rs 15 lakh). The police also recovered Rs 94,000 in cash at Eshappa’s house.
Srinivas, who was a divisional controller in Mysore, possessed immovable assets worth Rs 1.96 crore, including a flat at Chikkasandra in Bangalore (Rs three lakh), a site and a two-storey house in Srirampura at Mysore (Rs 43 lakh), a site and four-storey house in Kothanur in Bangalore (Rs 90 lakh) and an 11-acre and 20-gunta farmhouse at Kadanahally village in Mysore (Rs 55 lakh). The officer also owns movable assets worth Rs 29 lakh, including two cars (Rs 13 lakh).
Lokayukta police have seized Rs 46 lakh worth of immovable assets from T Mallesh, including two houses in Kudligi (worth Rs 40 lakh) and four separate agricultural lands in Kudligi (worth six lakh). The officials also seized movable assets worth Rs 17 lakh, including a car and 348 gms of gold.
Lokayukta police have seized immovable assets worth of Rs 60 lakh from Shivakumar.
The assets include three sites, a house in Sharavatinagara in Shimoga (Rs 48 lakh) and 4.23 acres of land in Hanasavadi village in Shimoga (Rs three lakh). The Lokayukta police also seized documents for movable assets worth Rs 20 lakh, including a car (Rs 3.5 lakh), investments in LIC (Rs 5.25 lakh) and gold (Rs 4.5 lakh).
