Goa: Karnataka Lokayukta Justice N. Santhosh Hegde has made it clear to all that he would step down form the office of LA on retirement in August next, and that even if the state govt. extended his services, he would not continue as LA.
He said he had done enough work, but cannot keep up the momentum, he told local newsmen in Goa’s capital on Monday. Hegde’s 5 year term ends by next August.
Officers of Lokayukta office were going out, and he did not want to appoint new men in vacant posts at this stage. He told reporters here that the state govt. did not want him to stay on as Lokayukta, in a patently political appointment.
About 1,400 corrupt officials had been charge-sheeted in last 4 years including MLAs /MLCs (legislators), IAS Officers, and IPS Officers by the Lokayukta office, he beamed.
