Bangalore: Before he suddenly became a CM on the back of 45 JD-S MLAs and taking BJP help by making a Dy CM of Yeddyurappa, H.D.Devegowda’s son Kumaraswamy had not made any wealthy project. He was a film producer and MLA, but when he reached the height of CM, like young Krishna climbing into a pot full of butter in a Gopi’s house, he started to earn left and right, on mining wealth, on Cargo carriers of iron ore, and on properties.
A lawyer has now gone to Lokayuktha in Bangalore to complain against the disproportionate wealth of HDK as compared to his sources of income as MLA or CM for 20 months in 2006-07. HDK earned (or minted money?) to the tune of Rs.167 crores in a few months. The complainant has asked, how can this man get so much money? That too, in a short time of six months as CM? The income has gone into various accounts of all members of Devegowda family. His eldest brother took VRS from state government service. His wife became an MLA. He started a new TV network!
HDK did not definitely dabble in Infosys shares, to be a crorepathi in 2000 from a middle class income. Some of the loot secured between 2005-2006 January months, saw the Gowda family’s bank account bulging with illegitimate incomes.
A lawyer from Dharwad, S.T.Teggihalli has made accusations of ill-gotten wealth against the present MP (JD-S) H.D Kumaraswamy, to Lokayukta.
Justice N.Santhosh Hegde has accepted the petition made by lawyer Teggihalli and agreed to register the complaint on disproportionate incomes. The lawyer stated that the Gowda family had deceived the people and the state by its activities. Justice Hegde assured that Balakrishne Gowda (elder to HDK) being a retired KAS officer, can stand scrutiny, while HDK being MP needs to be handled carefully.
