Bangalore: Lokayukta sleuths who raided the residences of BJP MLA M Srinivas and his son and corporator Venkatesh Babu on May 26, Saturday on the charges of owning disproportionate assets, have seized over Rs 55 lakh cash and over 2kg of gold apart from other valuables.
Srinivas, the MLA of Rajarajeshwari Nagar assembly constituency resides in Jayanagar 7th block. Apart from the raid on Srinivas’s residence, Lokayukta police even raided seven other places including the office of RMS International School near Konanakunte owned by the MLA, as well as the residences of Srinivas’s son Venkatesh Babu, corporator of Kottigepalya and other relatives of the family.
The raid was held under the leadership of Lokayukta DySP Prasanna Raju and SP Shivashanker. It may be recalled here that social activist Dinesh Kallahalli had lodged a Lokayukta complaint alleging that Srinivas, his wife Ratnamma, son Venkatesh Babu and his wife owned illegal assets worth over Rs 300 crore.
The assets owned by Srinivas include a residence at Kottigepalya, RMS International School at Konanakunte, a house at Jayanagar 7th block, commercial complex at Uttarahalli, site at Nagarabavi, 10 acre land in his name and 19.8 acre land in his wife Ratnamma’s name.
Other assets include Rs 55 lakhs cash, huge deposits in various banks, 2 kg gold, one karat diamond and 30 gram ruby.
