Bangalore : The Lokayukta police on Tuesday conducted simultaneous raids on seven government officials in five districts across the state. The Lokayukta police raided Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF) M S Ravi Kumar’s house in Bangalore and found 6.94 kg of gold and 9.68 kg of silver.
They also found alleged Disproportionate Assets (DA) worth Rs 2.49 crore. The Lokayukta police also raided six other government servants in four districts and seized assets worth Rs 8.4 crore.
The other officials raided are Assistant Executive Engineer (BDA) C Lakshminarasimhaiah (DA- Rs 1.97 crore, 244.10 pc), Food Inspector (Bangalore North) A Nanjundaiah (DA-`93 lakh, 169 pc), Range Forest Officer (RFO) Y A Talwar (DA-1.34 crore, 176.93 pc),
Accounts Officer (Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Company, Mandya) G V Ramachandra (DA- Rs 89.22 lakh, 223.05 pc),
Chief Executive Officer (Primary Agriculture Co-operative Society) H V Chandrashekhar (DA-Rs 38.74 lakh, 430.52 pc) and Junior Engineer Town Municipal Council, Udupi, Sridhara Naik (Rs 39.24 lakh, 130.80 pc). A senior Lokayukta official said that these simultaneous raids were conducted across 15 premises in Bangalore, Bangalore Rural, Belgaum, Mandya and Udupi districts.
The assets found with ACF Ravi Kumar, presently posted at Planning Section Aranya Bhavan, include a house in Uttarahalli worth Rs 1 crore and a commercial complex at Satellite Town Yelahanka worth Rs 30 lakh.
The officer is also constructing a building at Vishweshwaraiah Layout worth Rs 78 lakh.
“So far we have recovered gold and silver ornaments. The ornaments seized are yet to be evaluated. The officer has also informed that he has hypothecated around 1 kg of gold for loan. The officer also owns three cars worth Rs 31 lakh,” the official said.
