Mangalore : The teams of Lokayukta police were successful in trapping two employees of Mangalore City Corporation’s Suratkal office while receiving bribe from a tax consultant on July 1, Thursday.
The two employees were identified as Laxminarayana who is an office superintendent and Rama, the clerk.
The Lokayukta police took the action, when Prabhakar Shenoy, a tax consultant lodged complaint against them for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 4000 for Laxminarayana and Rs 2000 for Rama.
Mr Shenoy, had submitted four files for conversion to the employees, which were kept pending from past since six months for receiving bribe in installments.
The Lokayukta team led by SP Sadananda Varnekar and Inspector Udaya Naik, conducted a raid while both the employees were receiving the first installment of Rs 2,500 and later arrested them.
