Mangaluru : Lokayukta Justice P Vishwanath Shetty said the Lokayukata public grievance meetings will be conducted to address to the issues, such as inordinate delays in government departments.
Chairing a district-level officers meeting at the DC’s office here on Monday, he said transparency is very important in administration. There is a complaint from the people that the government schemes are not reaching the public on time, he said.
The Lokayukta said the officials should develop an attitude that they are working for the betterment of people. Efforts will be made to bring in more transparency to the system, he added.
He said the Lokayukta police have been told to pay visit across the district to listen to the grievances of the people. The Anti-Corruption Buerau and Lokayukta officials should visit government offices and inspect the progress of the works, the Lokayukta said.
Government hospitals, schools, Women and Child Development Department, anganwadi and hostels are meant for the service of financially deprived class. Loopholes in the working or the management of these institutions will not be tolerated. Quality of food should be checked in government hostels.
The vacant posts of doctors should be filled in government hospitals. Officials of urban local bodies should ensure that proper arrangements have been made for sewage treatment in multistoreyed buildings and facilities are made for rainwater harvesting in residential apartments, he said.
He also reviewed the progress of various schemes implemented by various departments.
Deputy Commissioner Dr K G Jagadeesha, Zilla Panchayat CEO Dr M R Ravi, SP Bhushan G Borase, DCP Shantaraju, ACB SP Chennabasavanna and ADC Kumar were present in the meeting.
