Bangalore : Corporate Affairs Minister Dr. M. Veerappa Moily claimed that the government’s version of the Lokpal Bill tabled in Parliament is more effective in comparison to the bills proposed by Team Anna and others.
“Now, to be very frank with you, refer back to the original proposal given by the Anna Hazare group and also the original bill which was drafted by NDA (National Democratic Alliance) and also what was clear by the Standing Committee in 2001 in the regime of the NDA, you find it that we have definitely made it more stronger,” said Moily.
“Not only more stronger, I think it is more than 200 percent, the proposals have been incorporated,” he added.
Moily further urged veteran social activist Anna Hazare to have patience and respect the Parliament”s decision.
“We are incorporated practically every one of the suggestions which was given in the first stage. We have also taken all the pre considerations, which were placed before the last Parliament (session). There is a time of argument…. There is a time to argue (on the bill) and ultimately when it come to the Parliament this time, I think we should leave it to the wisdom of the parliament to evolve a system,” said Moily.
“I think every citizen of the country will have to agree to the parliament”s wisdom, If he has faith in the constitution,” he added.
Team Anna has rejected the government”s version of the Lokpal Bill in Parliament, and termed it to be weak. They have been pressurising the government to accept their demands including bringing the CBI under the ambit of the anti-corruption ombudsman.
Hazare, 74, is now all set to launch his three-day token fast at the Mumbai Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (MMRDA) ground in suburban Bandra-Kurla Complex tomorrow to mount further pressure on the government for a ”strong” Lokpal Bill.
