Mangalore : Mulki Police have arrested one Lohith (23) the driver of the lorry which in a hit and run case had claimed the life of a personnel of Mulki police station Shivarajappa in an accident reported in the month of April this year.

The accident had taken place when Shivarajappa along with two of his colleagues was checking vehicles near the Bappanadu checkpost. The lorry, though was intercepted, sped away and hit Shivarajappa  before fleeing.

The cop had later died. The police who launched a hunt for the erring driver, saw CCTV footages of the camera at Hejamady and realized that it was the same lorry. Later they checked records and found the number of the lorry driver who hailed from Davangere and was eventually trapped.

He has been produced before court and released on bail.
