Malpe: A lorry cleaner’s left hand was cut off, when the loaded fish-carrying vehicle lost control at the turning of the road in front of Kodavur Shankeranarayana Temple on Tuesday evening(January 10). The injured person was identified as Gangolly Mahesh, who became a victim fish from Gangolly bunder to Malpe town.
The turning was quite dangerous for goods carriers. The fish lorry hit a compound wall of a home on roadside, and went turtle. The left hand of the cleaner was found under the vehicle, while the cleaner was dragged out by local passers-by. He was immediately rushed in 108 Ambulance van to a hospital.
Strange to say, the driver(Pujary)escaped with minor injuries. The fish in boxes were found scattered all over the courtyard the compound.
There was no speed- breaker on the road. Regular accidents(serious or small) take place at the turning point of the road 40 to 50 times a year usually.
Local people have threatened to raise humps, if road authorities did not bother to prevent Mis-haps, occurring since many years.
