Udupi:  There was some panic among residents of  Sasthan for some time on the night of January 3, Thursday when LPG began to leak from a huge tanker near the government High School Gundmi, Sasthan. The tanker  had 12000 litres (ltr) of LPG, in three compartments.

The police and fire service personnel who rushed to the spot  took immediate steps to check the leakage after they found the valve of the tanker in poor condition. Three fire service vehicles poured water over the tanker to control pressure in gas leakage.

Arrangements are being made to shift the gas belonging to Indane company to some other tanker.
