Mumbai – Lutron Electronics Co., Inc. organised a launch event and a seminar on Energy Saving Solution on March 13th at Four Seasons, Worli, Mumbai, 7pm onwards followed by Wine and Dine.
“Lutron is proud to be an integral contributor to the sustainable nature of the ESB and to collaborate with them on creating a space that is highly rentable, attracts and retains high-quality tenants and reduces operating costs over the life of the installation,” said Michael Pessina, President of Lutron. “The solution we’ve created together can be easily repeated in any whole-building retrofit.” In fact, with the adoption of Lutron control solutions at ESB, the installed payback period for lighting controls was reduced from 6 years to 2.75 years.
“The Lutron products used in ESB create savings, are easy to install, and help us and our tenants improve our bottom lines,” said Anthony Malkin of Empire State Building Company. “The resulting integrated product solution, including both wireless and digital controls, is expandable throughout ESB, and is repeatable in virtually any commercial office building. It is also helping us in our effort to exceed our building-wide energy-reduction target of 38%.”
Another good example of Energi TriPak’s application is the installation at Cambridge University’s Gurdon Institute in UK. Energi TriPak solution was applied to selective equipment rooms and laboratories. Thanks to the wireless nature of Energi TriPak, the retrofit was carried out with no disruption to the researchers’ working day and installation time was reduced significantly by more than 80% when compared to a wired solution.
The electrical consumption used during a pre-specified sensor controlled period was then monitored and the sensor control was subsequently disabled and a period of manual light switching control was monitored. Using Building Sustainability’s Workplace Footprint Tracker system, the results showed that during the sensor controlled phase, an average of 6.45kWh was used per 24 hours and an average of 16.39 kWh was consumed when it was switched to manual control. This equated to a 60% reduction between manual switching and sensor control. Taking into account the cost of the Lutron Energi Tri Pak system, it was calculated by the students of the University of Cambridge that the equipment payback period is about 1.5 years.
