Mangalore : ‘Nature is the best teacher hence one must think to preserve nature and search for alternate ideas in the construction of houses or roads, said C. M. Udasi, the minister for public works.
Speaking after inaugurating the 2-day workshop on Task Force for Quality Assurance in Public Constructions organized by Government of Karnataka in association with Public Works Department held at TV Raman Pai Convention Centre on June 10, Thursday, he said that, it is the government’s policy that the work is done as per the required standards.
Today people do not need any qualification to contest for the election, but he must have the capacity supervise the work. It is the duty of concerned authority to supervise the infrastructural work taking place in the district and maintain good quality construction material, he said.
Chief Guest MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, said that, organizing such workshop is not sufficient, but the department must organize technical discussion and conduct study on environment. They must also work on to maintain good life span for the city roads.
MLA Yogesh Bhat, other chief guest, said that, CM B S Yeddyurappa has released the fun of Rs 100 crore for the concretization of roads; hence they must maintain transparency and accountability.
He also said that the chief minister and the minister of public works have taken a joint decision to constitute a task force to not only monitor various aspects of the execution of government work, but also to enhance and maintain its quality, said Mahadevappa, sub committee member, Task Force for Quality Assurance delivering the speech.
