Bantwal : The village accountant  of Maanila village and a village assistant  were trapped red handed by a Lokayukta team  led by SI Mohandas, while accepting bribe from a person for transferring the account of a land  which is under judicial enquiry.

The arrested are  village accountant Ram Bhat (59), a resident of Mittanadka, Karopadi and assistant Krishna Naik (37), a resident of Kollatadka, Peruvai.

A certain Srinivas Poojary, a resident of Batyadka in  Manila village had lodged a complaint. It is learnt,  Krishna Naik had demanded a bribe of Rs 5000 and the complainant had paid an advance of Rs 500. The duo was trapped while accepting the balance of the demanded amount of Rs 4500.
