Kukke Subramanya: During a Kiru (small) Shasti festival here on Friday, hundreds of devotees performed Madesnana (rolling over leftover banana leaves of Brahmins) at the Kukke temple as per traditions.
After a meal offering on the courtyard of Sri Subrahmanya temple, over 150 devotees rolled like snakes on leaves left by people who dined.
A seven year old girl suffering from skin disease was among such devotees at the private ritual of the hoary temple.
There was a tight police bandhobast in the area, preventing non-beliers. Sullia legislator Angara (ST) presided over the religious conference later, at which Agam Vidwan Panja Bhaskar Bhat delivered a lecture.
Sri Vidyaprasanna Thirtha of Narasimha Swami Math gave benedictory address. A new open stage hall was inaugurated on the occasion. Panchayat members were present. There were devotional songs. College students presented cultural events.
