Udupi: District In-charge Minister Pramod Madhwaraj made it clear that he would be contesting from Congress in the forthcoming assembly elections and put to rest to all the speculations that were gaining momentum in the recent days.
Speaking to media persons here on Thursday, the minister said that he is the one who has applied for the party’s ticket for Udupi assembly constituency and he is hoping that he would be getting the opportunity to contest.
Reacting to the rumours, he said that he is keen to be active in the political scenario in Udupi and not in Delhi and Bengaluru. He said that he is on a high demand, as he is the hotcake of being the ‘number one MLA’ in the state.
Reacting to the chief minister’s statement that he is into the harassment by other party, the minister said that he is doubtful that whether he is the reason for the disturbances for others or the vice versa. He added that as the chief minister has complete information, he would be the right person to clarify the dilemma. He is not aware in what context the chief minister made the remarks.
“The intelligence is in the hands of chief minister, so he has a better information. I did not tell that I am under pressure. I don’t buckle under pressure,” he reiterated.
However, he indirectly said that there are also other pressures in various forms and declined to divulge further details.
He maintained that he has paid Rs 1 lakh for applying the ticket for Congress.
Stating that he does not have any problems from the Congress within the constituency and he would not prefer taking unnecessary risks. He hoped that the parliamentary committee of Congress would clear his name for contesting the elections
