Mangalore : Karnataka Bank, a premier private sector bank of India with its headquarters in Mangalore  has MS Mahabaleshwar Bhat as its new  Chief General Manager.

Bhat who is a post graduate in Agricultural Sciences, Bhat  has vast experience in the banking field, both at operational and administrative levels. He is also a Certified Associate of Indian Institute of Bankers (CAIB) and also has a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management from St Aloysius College, Mangalore.

Mahabaleshwar Bhat started his career as Researcher & Teacher at University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore and later on joined Karnataka Bank as Agricultural Field Officer in 1984. Since then he has served the bank in various capacities and proved his worth. He has served the Credit Department of the Bank at its Head Office, Mangalore and later headed the Bank’s branches at  Banakal, Chickmagalur ADB (Agricultural Development Branch) and Bangalore Kasturba Road.

He was promoted as  Chief Manager and later on as Assistant General Manager  and served at  Credit Department and Planning & Development Department of the Bank at its Head Office, Mangalore. Later on he moved to New Delhi Regional Office as Regional Head. He has also worked  as Regional Head of Mumbai Region before being elevated to the Post of General Manager in 2011.
