Bengaluru : Forest and Kannada and Culture Minister Aravind Limbavali has said that the roads in Mahadevapura constituency are in a dilapidated condition and need to be restored and developed immediately.
Limbavali was addressing senior officers of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) and Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) at a meeting chaired at the minister’s office in Vidhana Soudha on Wednesday.
As many as 110 villages have been affected by the work on the BWSSB project to provide water from River Cauvery. Of them, 31 villages are under the limits of Mahadevapura constituency. The roads in such villages and other parts of the constituency that are also affected by the BWSSB works need to be restored and developed, the minister said.
Discussing the matter with the officers, Limbavali added, “Roads up to a stretch of 629 km in the wards of Mahadevapura and 112 km of main roads have been dug for the Cauvery water line work. The stretches should be developed with the special grants to be released from the BBMP.”
He also discussed road development work in Muniswamy Shetty Layout.
Solid waste management
The minister, referring to the solid waste management in Mandur, said that the steps taken so far had been insufficient to clear the waste. He also told the officers to get the waste cleared immediately.
“The garbage clearance work is pending since 2008 in Cheemasandra. In Mittaganahalli, the waste beside the roads is also damaging the roads. The garbage should be cleared and the people should be stopped from throwing the garbage beside the roads,” he told the officers.
Gaurav Gupta, chief commissioner of BBMP, and Randeep, special commissioner, were among the officers who attended the meeting.
