Mangaluru: The mahamastakabhisheka of Bahubali at Shrikshetra Dharmasthala will be performed in February, 2019, according to D. Veerendra Heggade, dharmadhikari, Dharmasthala.

He announced this during the 36th anniversary of the consecration of Bahubali in Dharmasthala on Saturday. The ‘padabhisheka’ using 216 kalashas were performed to Bahubali in Ratnagiri on the occasion.

The 39-foot monolith weighing 210 tonnes had been consecrated in the temple town in February, 1982.

Mr. Heggade said that the mahamatakabhisheka would be performed under the leadership of Acharya Vardhamana Sagarji Muni Maharaj with the guidance of Charukeerti Bhattaraka of Shravanabelagola.
