Mumbai : A fortnight Uddhav Thackeray was sworn in as the chief minister, the Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi coalition government on Thursday finally distributed portfolios after hectic parleys.
The Shiv Sena has kept the home ministry, that was a key sticking point with Sharad Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party, and also the lucrative urban development ministry.
The NCP, on the other hand, gets the finance, housing, public health and co-operation ministries in the Maharashtra government. The Congress will take charge of Revenue, Energy, Education, PWD, Textiles, Women and Child Welfare ministries in the state.
However, no deputy chief minister has been announced, contrary to the expectations.
NCP leader Ajit Pawar met Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday evening to finalise the power-sharing agreement between the three parties. Balasaheb Thorat, president of the Maharashtra Congress, was also present on the occasion.
