Mangalore: Maharshi Valmiki Day was observed at the Netravathi Auditorium of the Zilla Panchayat on October 29, Monday. Presiding over the function, Deputy Speaker Yogish Bhat said the Petitions Committee of the House has formulated a Rs 500 crore package for the development of people of tribal areas in DK, Udupi and Chikmagalur districts.
He also emphasized the need for the public to know about the life history of Maharshi Valmiki. The programme was earlier inaugurated by Ritesh Shetty, ZP Chief. Dr PY Mallaiah, Deputy Librarian of Mangalore University, delivered the key note address. Janardhan Gowda, President of the Standing Committee on Social Justice of the DK ZP, Dr NS Channappa Gowda, DC, Harish Kumar, MCC Commissioner and others were present on the occasion.
