Mangalore: The ‘Mahathobhara Sri Mangaladevi Navarathri Mahotsava’ will commence in the city from October 8 to October 17 and it will hold various cultural programmes , said Ramnath Hegde, managing trustee of Mangala Devi Temple.
Addressing the media persons at the press meet held at the temple on October 5, Tuesday said that the temple has been engaged with the various developmental works in the past and will also hold in the future.
The temple management has also performed around 350 marriages for the financial backward couple at free of cost.
The goddess will be offered with the ‘Golden Mask’ of 2 and half KG of worth Rs 30 lakhs with donation and gold collected from the devotees and the donors on October 7, Thursday at 9 am in the presence of DC V Ponnuraj, Kodialguthu M Ajit Kumar Rai, president of Bunts Association, he informed.
The temple had offered the main entrance made out of Rs 40 kg silver and the door at the first phase and in the second phase it will offer the ‘silver plated door’ at the cost of Rs 30 lakhs.
The Temple will also conduct ‘Janapada Kalotsava’ competition at the Temples’ Rangamantapa on October 9 at 6 pm for the children from 1st standard to 10th standard in four different categories. B R Bhat, general manager of Corporation Bank will inaugurate the cultural programmes and Premanand Shetty, corporator of Mangaladevi will participate as the chief guest.
Police Commissioner of Mangalore City Seemanth Kumar Singh will preside over the valedictory ceremony to be held on October 18 Monday. Vijay Kumar, IFS, Deputy Conservator of Forest and AG Pai of MSEZ will participate as the chief guest and Ramnath Pradeep, chairman of Corporation Bank Head Office will be the special guest.
District in charge minister and Minister for Urban and Muzrai will be the special guest at the Sathyanarayana Pooja to be held on October 19, Tuesday at 6.30 pm.
