Mangalore : Mahesh Bhat, human rights activist and eminent film personality, will inaugurate Vartha Bharathi’s readers’ convention at Town Hall in Mangalore on September 14.
Vartha Bharathi, a Kannada daily, is organizing the readers’ convention as part of its decennial year celebrations. B. M. Basheer, editor of the daily, will deliver a keynote address at 7:00 p.m., and Dr. U. R. Ananthamurthy, winner of the Jnanapeetha Award, will release the 10th annual commemorative issue of Vartha Bharathi.
Abdussalam Puthige, editor-in-chief of the daily, will preside, and S. M. Syed Khalil, Syed Abdul Khader Bashu, and H. M. Afroz Assadi will be the guests of honor.
Mr. Bhat has to his credit famous movies such as Arth, Dhoka, Saaransh, Janam, Naam, Sadak and Zakhm, Jism, Inteha, Who Lambe, and Murder.
