Mangalore ; In a major haul, the CCB police led by Inspector Venkatesh Prasanna and  Mangalore Police Commissioner have been successful in unearthing a major hawala racket by arresting 27 persons and seizing a cash of Rs 78,69,850  from a house at Kodialguttu on October 6, Saturday.

Suresh Kumar of Gujarat had taken this house on rent and had several associates who used to transfer huge cash from tax evaders and those with black money.

The modus operandi was such that all the accused had huge stock of money. Those who wished to transfer huge cash evading tax would approach them who collected a commission of Rs 7000 for every lakh transferred.

It is learnt the police had kept a watch on the house for nearly a week and then raided the place. Apart from cash, police have also seized 27 mobile phones, 17 bikes and two hawala jackets with many pockets. It is learnt, their firm was named  Patel Ashish Kumar Kanthilal and co, Ahmedabad.
