Udupi: The Beach Utsava-2012 today, was inaugurated by Udupi MLA, K. Raghupathi Bhat who told the gathering that last year(2011), 40 thousand people had visited the beach festival in Malpe and the then Udupi MP and present CM Sadananda Gowda had assured the organizers, of providing more helping future.
This year CM Gowda has agreed to release Rs10 lakhs for the Malpe Beach festival, to make it even more successful than that in 2011.
Raghupathi released several doves and colourful balloons in the sky, during the inaugurab on Saturday, January 28 morning.
ZP Udupi president Katpady Shankar Pujary in his speech on the occasion, said that Udupi was witnessing tremendous progress these days, and the credit in some form should go to Dr. V.S. Acharya, in-charge minister for the district.
MLC Kota Srinivasa Poojary stated that Udupi made history in Karnataka, with many successful events in recent times, by giving opportunities for fresh talents to blossom.
He marveled that some 50,000 people were attending the current beach shows.
State minister G. Karajol, Kapu MLA Lalaji R Mendon, Fisheries Marketing chief H.T. Kidiyoor, and many others were present. C. Bharathi led the prayer. Yashpal Suvarna welcomed the guests.
