Udupi: On Thursday, Diwali celebrating local citizens in their thousands gathered at the Malpe beach on a special holiday programme. There was a cultural feast, with music and dances, organised by M.B. Friends, who had conducted similar events in past years.

A musical group ‘Sargam’ from Mangalore was on Malpe beach to entertain huge audiences into the night.

Magician and entrepreneur Dr. G. Shankar inaugurated the events and spoke on the occasion, assuring his support for the public services under taken by Beach Friends. MLA K. Raghupathi Bhat presided.

Several local dignitaries and businessmen were present, along with Manohar Suvarna, Chief of M.B. Friends. Dr. Mohan Alva was honoured on the occasion, along with 2 other achievers. Students and Hospital patients were given prizes and monetary assistance. Panduranga welcomed. Kishore D. Suvarna thanked.
