Udupi : It was indeed a tragic holiday for the family of Prasanna Gowda from Doddaballapur in Bangalore which had arrived in Malpe on a summer vacation. A Boat riding at Malpe beach turned tragic when the boat capsized while they were alighting on May 20, Sunday Though all the 16 on the boat were rescued, Prasanna Gowda’s two year old son Hithesh, who slipped from his mother’s hands and fell into the river was untraced and feared drowned.

It was after intensive search throughout the  night that the body of the child was traced in mid seas and handed over to the family.

Already, a complaint has been lodged in Kadaba police station against the boat owner Narayana for embarking on boating activities despite a ban on boating. Moreover he had also violated rules by  taking 16 persons in his boat which had a capacity of just 12.
