Karkala :  Youth of Ajekar village in Karkala have come together to form a Mamatha Sports and Cultural Association in honour of Mamatha Poojari, the captain  of the Indian  Kabaddi team which won the world cup for the nation. The Association aimed at encouraging rural sporting talents was inaugurated by Mamatha herself along with her husband Abhishek at a function held at Ajekar Primary School on January 26.

In her address, Mamatha thanked the youth of Ajekar for forming the association with a very good objective in mind.

Karkala MLA Gopal Bhandari, Sunil Kumar, former Karkala MLA, Karunachandra, President of the new Association and others were present.

Rohan Ferrao,  body builder and Ekalavya award winner, was felicitated.

Rajendra Suvarna, President of Udupi District Amateur Kabaddi Association, entrepreneurs Rakesh Shetty, Shivaram G Shetty, Sunder Shetty and others were present.
