Udupi: A person identified as Mohammad Altaf (32), a resident of Badagabettu, was arrested by the DCIB police near the Badagabettu Panchayat office on September 26, Wednesday on the charges of attempting to sell ganja and charas to students.

Police have also seized ganja weighing 1.1 kg and charas weighing 410 grams from him, apart from a Maruti car. The value of the seized goods is Rs 1.4 lakhs.

Interrogations of the accused revealed that he got the charas from Delhi and Ganja from Shimoga and was engaged in the task of selling the same to students

Manipal police are conducting the investigations. It may be recalled here that  in August the DCIB cops had arrested two persons for attempting to sell ganja to students at Perampally and another one near the city bus stand on the very next day.
