Kasargod : One Basheer (50) hailing from Chengala has been arrested  by the Kasargod police on the charges of resorting to thefts in hospitals. The arrest was in the wake of several complaints received by the police regarding thefts in hospital. The police made the arrest of Basheer from the Kasargod Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS).

A laptop which he had stolen from a doctor, jewels from a patient and seven mobile phones were seized. It is learnt, he used to watch patients in hospitals and then resort to theft when he found the right time.

The CCTV footages of the hospital helped in trapping him. It is said he had resorted to thefts in several other hospitals too.

Basheer who first worked as a watchman in a hospital at Vidyanagar later quit the job to work as a truck driver. It is said he was jobless since some time.
