Beltangady : A group of three men with wearing mask have allegedly said to have murdered a man at his residence with lethal weapons on April 19, Saturday late night.
The deceased has been identified as Annaiah Gowda (48), residing in Shalethadka in Kalenja village.
Reportedly, during the murder, deceased Annaiah’s wife and youngest out of his three children were present in the house.
Annaiah who opened the rear door, as he heard the sound of moving roof tiles, was pushed by the three masked men and was attacked with sharp weapons killing him on the spot. Scared by the incident, Annaiah’s wife ran away to a neighbouring house along with child and brought people for help, but unfortunately, he was declared dead.
During the incident, Annaiah’s two children were on a visit to a relative’s home. But the manner of narrating the story by Annaiah’s wife has aroused doubt of her hand in the murder, in the minds of the locals and the police.
Previously Annaiah Gowda was working as a truck driver, while his wife Amitha operates a tailoring shop in Kokkada. According to the locals, couple did not have a cordial relationship. They also said that the locals had also burnt down the bike belonging to forest department officials, who was visiting their house frequently during night at Annaiah’s absence.
According to locals, Annaiah was a sober person, having good relationship with everyone in the village and it is strange that the three killed him for no reason and no money or valuables were snatched from the family.
The police found some roof tiles removed and placed at rear side of the house. They are also tracking the cell phone owned by Amitha to find out the murderers.
Additional DK SP Shivakumar visited the spot. A case has been registered at the Uppinangady police station.
Puttur rural police circle inspector B Suresh Kumar, will conduct the further investigation of the case.
