Kasargod: A body of a man found in a stone quarry at Kayyar on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Evarest Rodrigues (49) of Lenkinadka, Kayyar. It is suspected that the deceased person may accidentally slip from the top of the quarry while returning back to home during night time.

A lady from the village informed the local about the death on Sunday morning. The deceased was a collie worker and he was trying to fetch a job in gulf country in search of a better living. He has survived by wife and four children.

Kumble police visited the spot and later the body was shifted to Kasargod General Hospital.

The locals alleged that the quarry owners have left the quarry open after removing stones from it for several years. Now the quarry has transformed as a death trap for the villagers. The directive of the district authority to fill the quarries has fallen into deaf ears, they said.
