Udupi: A 35-year-old man found in a murdered state in a car in a deserted area at Ontibettu, Hiriadka on Thursday.
Sheikh Mohammad Tasneem (35) of Kemmannu is the deceased person. His body was found in a black Volkswagen Polo car. The car was parked nearly 300 meters away from the main road.
An umbrella, a hockey stick, a diary, and a bag were found at the spot and police inspecting the seized materials.
Police suspect that the murder might have been took place somewhere else and the murderers have brought the body at Ontobettu and they went on their own, as there is no evidence of struggle around the body and no blood strains were also seen. A finger was found disjointed.
According to the sources, Tasneem was involved in car thefts during his college days. Once he was arrested and convicted by the court in connection with a car theft. Later he was sent abroad by his family to seek employment.
The sources have also informed that, after returning from abroad Tasneem eloped with a girl belonging to same community, as they were in relationship with each other and her family didn’t agreed for their marriage. After filing a habeas corpus on Tasneem by the girls uncle, Tasneem returned back home with the girl, but they were married at that time.
ASP Vishnuwardhan, DySp Kumaraswamy, Manipal circle inspector S V Girish, Brahmavar circle inspector Arun Kumar arrived at the spot and investigated.
