Kundapur: Activists of a pro-Tamil organization assaulted the driver of a van at Rameshwaram. A video recording of the incident has gone viral.

The organization named Nam Tamilar Iyakkam attacked several Karnataka registered vehicles at Rameshwaram and also assaulted Kannadigas.

Manjunath Kulal (38) hailing from Kundapur in Udupi district, Karnataka had gone on a tour of South India with his parents and 10 friends last Friday. However, he was assaulted with clubs at Rameshwaram on Monday. The group is under police security for the time-being; of the 12 tourists, three are said to be safe in a lodge.

Manjunath had visited Rameshwaram several times as the driver of a tourist van; he used to stay at a lodge as he was familiar with people there. It is said that the owner of the lodge helped the group and also accompanied them to the police station.
