Moodbidri : A man named Sundar (55) from Kalladi-Jarigekatte in Kuppepadavu village, has been arrested on the charges of raping a mentally ill minor girl and making her pregnant.

Residents of the area on coming to know about the brutal act, caught hold of Sunder stripped him, tied him to a tree and then reportedly assaulted him. The Bajpe police who arrived arrested him.

It is said the 15 year old girl was lured by the man and then raped when her parents who too were labourers went out for work.

Asha Nayak, Chairperson of CWC said the girl would be subject to medical examination. Reports said the accused Sunder was associated with some political party and was also the president of SDMC of Kallady School.
