Udupi : A man identified as Shanker Kotian(47) who picked up a quarrel with his mother in a drunken stupor and tried to kill her, was himself murdered by his elder brother, who tried to save the mother. The incident took place at Mandedi Undaru of Innanje on March 19, Tuesday.

The deceased Shanker Kotian used to always harass his mother seeking a share in t he four acre property which was in her name. On March 19 nght, he once again began to quarrel, when his elder brother  Srinivas grabbed a wooden stick and began to hit him. The quarrel between the brothers turned grave when Srinivas, in a fit of anger hit Shanker’s head with a knife. He died very soon.

The accused Srinivas was arrested and investigations are in progress. Senior police officials also visited the scene of the crime.
