Kundapur: The Kundapur court remanded Shankaranarayana Hebbar to judicial custody for poisoning his wife and children on October 17 at their residence in Byndoor. It is said that he took the extreme step after his family objected to his extra-marital affair.
Hebbar’s children Ashwin Kumar and Aishwarya Laxmi had already succumbed to the effects of the poison while his wife was critical and was admitted to a private hospital.
It is said that Hebbar had an illicit affair with a woman and wanted to bring her home. However, he was met with objections from his wife and children. Thus he hatched a plan and poisoned his wife and children and wrote a 16-page death note. He also consumed a small amount of poison to mislead the police.
Hebbar was taken to a government hospital in Byndoor after which he was produced before a court in Kundapur and was remanded to judicial custody.
