Mysore : Bodies of a man and his three children were found in a lake in Mosambayanahalli, on T Narsipura-Kiralu Road in Mysore taluk on Monday.
The deceased have been identified as Madesha (5), Prajwal (7), Anjali (10) and Mahadeva (40). Passersby noticed a two-wheeler near the banks of the lake and alerted the police, who rushed to the spot and retrieved the bodies by 1.30 pm, with the help of the Forest personnel.
Police sources said Mahadeva was under the influence of alcohol. However, his mother has lodged a complaint against Mahadeva’s wife Nagamma and three others. Frequent fights between the couple over Nagamma’s ‘extra-marital affairs’ drove him to take the extreme step, she said.
However, sources said Mahadeva, who was an alcoholic, quarrelled with Nagamma and she had lodged three complaints against him in the Mysore south police station. Nagamma went to her maternal home in Kiralu, along with the children. He would often go to Kiralu and pick fights with her and Nagamma’s relatives assaulted him for the same, sources added.
On Sunday Mahadeva left Kiralu at 8.30 pm along with the children, and their bodies were found in the lake on Monday. Mysore Rural Police have registered a case.
