Mangalore : Mangalore Airport Director, M R Vasudev said that the Mangalore Airport has not saved the history till now, though it will celebrate the years of its existence.
Addressing the media persons at the programme ‘Meet the Press’ held at press club on Feb 15, Tuesday, he said that the airport in the earlier year had only one control tower, wireless system, communication navigation system for guidance and all the plane was monitored from Mangalore.
He also said that, today the airport has good building. In 2006, the runway development was taken place, but when compared to other airports, Mangalore Airport never lacks behind, though there was quite delay in the development.
Now the Airport authority has done good and great job. The developments, which the people of Mangalore are thinking about, will be developed in future. The Mangalore Airport is much facilitated compared to other city, he said.
Mangalore has been identified as the one, out of 35 non metro airports. Mangalore Airport works with the purpose to serve the people and it handles around 8.5 lakh passengers in the present day.
The Airport cannot celebrate the 60 years celebration, but it has no problem celebrating the anniversary in association with the Kanara Chambers of Commerce and Industry.
