Mangalore: The city BJP office and Sangh Niketan surroundings saw BJP men/women taking to streets on Monday, After Sunday afternoon’s Jan-andolan campaign at the Central Maidan, but in a different spirit, of celebrating CM’s victory over the Governor in democracy, and for survival of BJP rule under constitutional compulsions.
The Centre late on Sunday night had rejected the state Governor Bhardwaj’s recommendation to dismiss the government in spite of its working majority of 120 in a house of 223. The Centre was thanked for saving BJP govt.
About 200 BJP active along with city MLA (and deputy speaker) N. Yogish Bhat converged at J.J Soudha in Kodialbail on Monday, after they learnt that BJP rule would survive, and raised slogans for CM, and against the state Governor whom they condemned.
The busy PVS circle area was disturbed in the noise of crackers and shouts from the revelry of BJP.
MLA Bhat addressing the jubilant crowds, informed of Home minister’s announcement in New Delhi not to accept Governor’s advice on state BJP rule. DK Unit Chief Padmanabha Kottari added that it was a slap on the face of state opposition leaders who had slogged for the fall of BJP govt, under one pretext or the other.
It was stated that this was the second time that the state Governor was at the receiving end for his impractical suggestions on state rule.
