Mangalore :The Brahmarathotsava as part of the annual car festival of Sri Venkatramana Temple at Carstreet in Mangalore was held on February 16, Sunday with great devotion. Devotees from various parts of the city, district, nation and world who had gathered at Carstreet, pulled the Temple chariot at around midnight.
The five day festivities will conclude with Okuli on February 18, Monday. On Sunday various rituals including Seeyalabhisheka Shathakalashabhisheka, Gangabhisheka, Panchamritha Abhisheka were offered to the Lord by Sri Sudhindra Theertha Swamiji, senior seer of Kashi Mutt Samsthan. Maha Pooja and Maha Mangalarathi were also offered.
The idol of Lord Veera Venkatesha was carried in a golden palanquin and then taken to the Lord. Later Maha Pooja and Mahamangalarathi were held in the presence of the two seers. Later, a specially adorned Lord Sri Veera Vankatesha idol was taken out in a golden palanquin and placed in the chariot which was pulled by the devotees with fervor.
