Mangalore : Mangalore Customs Commissioner D Purushottam has informed that a revenue of Rs 447 crore has been collected during the year 2012-13.
Speaking to reporters at New Customs House at Panambur, he said the target for the year was Rs 630 crore. He said major companies like MCF, UPCL and MRPL has contributed towards the increased revenue collection.
The Mangalore Customs has a target of recovery of arrears of Rs 21 crore and of it Rs 15.59 crore has already been collected.
He said those tipping off the Department on smuggling activities and so on which lead to seizure of goods or detection of illegality will be rewarded under the government reward scheme, while keeping identities confidential.
