Mangalore : The officers of Customs at Mangalore International Airport seized gold totally weighing 932.500 grams in two separate cases. In the first case, the officers seized 02 (Two) gold sheets, totally weighing 466.000 grams and valued at Rs.14,09,650/- concealed in the base of a brown coloured rexine trolley bag from the possession of a passenger named Shri. Shereef Abdulkareem, who is a resident of Cherukara House, Thekkil PO, Kasaragod Dt., Kerala-671541 and arrived at Mangalore International Airport on 14.02.2014 at about 17.30 hrs by Air India Express fight IX384 from Dubai.
In the second case, the officers similarly seized 02 (Two) gold sheets, totally weighing 466.500 grams and valued at Rs.14,11,162/- concealed in the base of a black coloured rexine trolley bag from the possession of a passenger named Shri. Riyas Kuchanath Purayil, who is a resident of Ennappara House, Chalingal, PO Haripuram, Kasaragod Dt., Kerala-671531 and arrived at Mangalore International Airport on 14.02.2014 at about 17.30 hrs by Air India Express flight IX384 from Dubai.
Operations were conducted under the supervision of Shri. Pravin, Vinod, Assistant Commissioner of Customs, Mangalore International Airport. Further investigation is under progress in both the cases, under the guidance of Commissioner Shri. D.Purushotham.
