Mangalore : Fr Archibald Albuquerque known as Fr Archie, priest of Mangalore Diocese passed away due to massive heart attack at St Roque Church, Neerude on August 20, Wednesday
A 61 year old Fr Archie served as the priest for the last 33 years. During the time of his death, he was the parish priest of St Roque Church, Neerude.
Mangalore Bishop Most Rev. Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza and Vicar General V. Rev. Msgr Denis Prabhu have condoled his death.
About Fr Archie
Fr Archie was born at Derebail Parish on August 15, 1953. After joining St Joseph’s Seminary, Mangalore and completing priestly studies, he was ordained as priest of Mangalore Diocese on April 22, 1981.
After his ordination, Fr Archie has served as Assistant Parish Priest of Karkal Town and Bejai Parishes 4 years. He was the parish priest for 7 years in Borimar, for 6 years in Basrur, for 7 years in Nirkan, for 1 year in Manjeshwar, for 7 years in Badyar, one year in Nakre and Neerude for 1 plus years.
Fr Archie was born in a family of 6 children including four brothers and two sisters. Fr Archie is a twin brother of Mr Richard while, Two of his twin sisters namely Sr Immaculate B.S. is working in Batinda in Punjab; and Sr Marylytte B.S. is working in Kulshekar, as a Bethany nuns.
Fr Archie has the achievement of building the new church of Basrur, since earlier was too small. He also built a huge high school building along with a hall at Nirkan church campus. He also renovated the sacristy in Nirkan and parochial house along with a mini hall in Badyar.
He engaged himself in improving rubber cultivation to bring income to the church. He built a portico in Borimar church.currently, he was doing the renovation work of Neerude parochial house.
His funeral Mass willl be held at St Roque Church, Neerude on August 22, Friday at 10 am and the mortal remains would be interred at Neerude church cemetery.
