Mangalore : The city of Mangalore is bustling with activity with people thronging the market places to make purchases of essentials for the Ganesha Chaturthi celebrations to be held on September 17, Thursday.
The venues is sheltered by pendals, decorated by flags and buntings, illuminated by lights, one can sense the festive mood reverberating around the city.
Ganesha idols of myriad colours and sizes are adorning places like Attavara Chakrapani Temple, Nehru Maidan, Bunts Hostel, Sanghanikethan, KSTRC, Police Lane, Bejai, Kulshekar, Capitanio, Jeppinamogeru, and other places across the city.
Flowers are sold in abundance at various places of the city and people are seen making purchases least bothering about the high prices of both flowers and vegetables.
There is a festive spirit and atmosphere everywhere and sugarcanes can be seen piled up in corners and are purchased by customers in plenty for the Ganeshotsava celebrations.
Beautiful clay idols of Lord Ganesha in his myriad hues are awaiting customers at various outlets in Mangalore. The idols will be worshipped for a day in some places and for three or five days in other places.
Sarvajanika Ganeshotsava too will be celebrated by various committees in various places of the city.
Ganesha Chaturthi In Udupi : In Udupi too arrangements are in full swing for Grand Ganeshotsava celebrations. People are seen making a beeline to markets to purchase vegetables, flowers and sugarcane.
