Mangalore : A multi-specialty cancer hospital named Mangalore Institute of Oncology (MIO) was inaugurated at Pumpwell in Mangalore on November 18, Sunday by Cancer Victors and Yuvraj Singh Foundation.
Prof Dr M Shantaram Shetty, pro-chancellor of Nitte University presided over the function. Cancer victors Prasad, Keshav Kini, Jayalatha, V Anandan and a few others shared the dais along with dignitaries including Prof Dr M Abdul Rahiman, former vice-chancellor, Calicut and Kannur universities, Professor Dr M Vijayakumar, director, Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology, Bangalore and Amit Yadav, General Manager, Yuvraj Singh Foundation
Dr Suresh Rao, Director of MIO said the hospital has been set up to provide the best cancer treatment available in the world and added seven eminent oncologists of Mangalore have come together to set up this hospital which is equipped with the latest Rapid Arch treatment equipment.
Cricketer Yuvraj Singh’s inspirational message was displayed on the screen at the function. Dr Jalaluddin Akbar, Director of MIO, Dr Sanath Hegde, Dr Krishna Prasad, Dr Rohan Gatti and others were present.
