Udupi: A long standing demand of people of Nandikur area has been fulfilled with the Mangalore-Madagaon training getting a halt at the Nandikur railway station. When the train halted at the station for the very first time on January 26, Saturday, it was welcomed by locals under the leadership of Kaup MLA Lalaji Mendon.
Crackers were burst and sweets were distributed. Lalaji Mendon said efforts would be made to get a halt even for the Matsaygandha Express and other trains in the future.
The Mangalore-Madagaon train will halt at the Nandikur station at 7.27 am and depart at 7.28 am and in the evening it will stop at 6.48 pm and depart at 6.49 pm.
Among others present on the occasion were Palimar GP Chief Giriappa Poojari, Naveenchandra Suvarna, former president, Lakshman Shetty, Udupi APMC Chief and DV Suresh, Station Master.
