Mangalore : The International Kite Festival, inaugurated by Mangalore Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh on January 21 Saturday at Panabur Beach, featured around 150 colorful kites on a single line by Team South Korea alone, along with a pair of doves, a pterodactyl by Team England, and a large kite bearing the words “Kite if 4 God” and “I Love Bali” from Team Indonesia, among others.
The event had attracted hundreds of people from all over the city.
Kite enthusiasts from around 7 countries participated in the international kite festival this year. The viewers were treated to a sight of kites from Kuwait, Lebanon, UK, Indonesia, France, Netherlands, and South Korea, among others.
The participants were pleased with the elaborate arrangements made for them by Team Mangalore, a group of avid kite fliers from Mangalore. One of them even noticed that the organizers, being kite fliers themselves, had made arrangements such as sand bags and barricades to make kite flying easier.
One of the highlights of the event was a special device involving a camera attached to a kite to take aerial photographs of the event.
