Mangaluru: The Karnataka Regional Cricket Academy will organise the third edition of the Mangalore Premier League (MPL) between December 17 and 31 at B.R. Ambedkar Cricket Stadium, New Mangalore Port Trust.
A release here said the event would be held in association with the Mangalore Ocassionals and with the guidance of the Karnataka State Cricket Association.
The names of about 24 players who played in the last MPL are placed in the players auction list of the coming Karnataka Premier League.
The matches would be played during the day and under the floodlit as well lit by eight 60-ft tall lighting towers. There is a proposal to provide the astro turf wicket and turf for 30 yard circle. There would be live telecast of the match through local television channels and the matches from quarter final onwards would be telecast through DD Sports Channel.
Fun Park would be the added attraction this year in which children coming with parents can enjoy the cricket along with fun games. Like last year, the tournament would be held on league cum knockout basis. The 12 teams of different places of the Mangalore zone would be divided into two pools. Each team has to play five matches in the particular pool. Qualifiers would play in the knockout stage.
