Mangalore: A qualitative synthetic track is being laid out at the Mangala sports stadium within a stipulated time-frame, and the overseeing as also technical committees are being formed to complete the work by end of April this year, said Dr. N.S. Channappa Gowda, DC, speaking at the progress review meeting held at the stadium office on Monday.
The inaugural function will be held in May first week, he indicated. Rajuvelu of Bhadravathi will inspect the works as an expert. The international Athletic Federation has to certify the quality of the track, before contractor is paid, he explained.
A technical report is required to construct a sports hostel on a plot near ITI-Kadri, and an indoor stadium on 1.50 acre plot in Shaktinagar.
Assistant Director of sports Parshwanath revealed that Rs3crores were released for the synthetic track in progress.
MLA, N.Yogish Bhat chaired the meeting . Local Corporation Bank is read to manage the Mangala stadium and Engineer stated.
